Terms and Conditions
-
Owners must collect dogs at the stated time. Uncollected dogs will be charged a sitting fee of £5 per 20-minute block. All grooms will have an estimated collection time and owners will be contacted with enough time to collect the dog. Any dog(s) not collected on time will disrupt next appointments. Please make sure you leave enough time to collect your dog(s).
-
By agreeing to these terms and conditions you give permission to shave off a matted coat/matted area(s) and accept the associated outcomes which come with this. Shaving of a dog’s coat will dramatically change their appearance and their hair can be very short and close to the skin. This may expose pre-existing medical conditions. Matted coats highly increase the chance of skin irritation and skin tears which you accept I am not liable for. Matted dogs will incur a matting fee from £15 which will be payable on collection of the dog(s).
-
Please check your dogs for fleas before visiting. If fleas are found on your dog(s) you will incur a charge of £15 which will be payable on collection of the dog(s). This will allow for the salon to be extensively cleaned to avoid the spreading of fleas to other dogs which enter the salon.
-
If your bitch is in season, or due to be on season, please can cancel your appointment. I am unable to groom any god which is on season due to their heightened sensitivity which can cause unnecessary stress and discomfort. if this is the case, please contact me and I will be happy to assist you with rescheduling your appointment.
-
Bitches that are pregnant will not be groomed. This is because it can be extremely uncomfortable and unsafe to do so. If your are planning a pregnancy, please ensure your bitch is groomed beforehand.
-
Please make sure your dog has been to the toilet before the appointment. Allocated appointment time does not allow for cleaning time if a dog has an accident. If this is needed, there is risk of the appointment running late causing disruption to later scheduled appointments.
-
Please ensure your dog(s) is/are fit and healthy and up to date with vaccinations. Grooming of sick or elderly dogs is entirely at owner’s risk. I do not take responsibility if your dog develops an allergic reaction to shampoos, conditioners, or any other grooming products. If there is concern with allergy or skin sensitivity, please communicate this to me and/or bring your own medicated shampoo if unsure.
-
Please be aware that your dog(s) may need to be muzzled if your dog poses a danger to any other dog or person. Please let me know beforehand if your dog has previously shown behavioural difficulties. I operate on an honesty policy which simply means that I ask you to be honest with me about your dog(s) behaviour at previous grooming establishments (for new clients). By telling me, I can be better prepared for dealing with your dog(s) and personalising their grooming experience accordingly. In return I will always be honest about your dog(s) behaviour whilst in my care.
-
Please be aware that if the dog does not remain still during the grooming process accidents can happen such as injuries from clippers or scissors. If this does happen, I will let you know and explain the best course of action.
-
Your dog(s) may be photographed before, during and after its groom. Photographs may be used on my website, social media, or other printed materials. Please let me know if you do not want your dog(s) to be photographed before your appointment.
-
Payment must be made on collection of the dog (with exception to December appointments). A quote can be given before an appointment however please be aware that these are only estimates based on an average dog of the same breed. Owners must remember that some dogs may require extra work which can result in the initial quote estimate changing.
-
December appointments are pre-paid with a 24-hour cancellation policy.
-
Deposits will be taken for your first groom.
-
-
For all booked appointments there is a 24-hour cancellation policy in place. If you do not attend a booked appointment and have not giving at least 24 hours’ notice, then a deposit of the full amount of the groom will be taken on booking your next appointment. Customers who continually fail to meet my terms and conditions will not be able to book anymore appointments with myself.

Teeth cleaning
Please note: Your dog must accept the mouth and teeth to be touched for us to be able to provide this service. Please try this at home before you book.
Cleaning of teeth:
-
I understand the emmi-pet ultrasound toothbrush will be used on my dog which has no vibration, no movement and no noise.
-
I understand that tartar, plaque or stains will be removed from the teeth during brushing and that a non sharp wooden tool may be used to aid this process.
-
I understand that the session will stop and I may need to seek veterinary assistance if:
-
Any loose teeth are suspected
-
If my dog objects and becomes stressed or aggressive.
-
Any obvious abnormalities are visible or suspected in the mouth such as: A foreign body embedded in the mouth, Oral warts, Oral Injuries or Tumours.
I understand that:
-
There may be some minor signs of blood on the gum line during and after teeth cleaning as the tartar and the plaque is removed.
-
If the session has to stop for any health or behaviour reasons, i will still happily pay for the full session taking place
-
The dog may have a reaction to the products used.
-
Thompson Tails cannot guarantee any treatments’ effectiveness, especially if the advised frequency and/or home maintenance is not kept up. For optimum results, it is recommended to have regular appointments to maintain your dog’s oral health. Less frequent visits are likely to be less effective.
-
Each dog will have their own toothbrush head and this will need replacing after every 15-20 visits (unless damaged). This is at a cost of £10.

I declare that:
-
I do not know of any medical reason why teeth cleaning cannot be carried out on my dog and I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to inform Thompson Tails in the future should this be the case.
-
I am aware that the teeth cleaning service is not a substitute for a veterinary inspection and staff are not qualified to diagnose abnormalities or disease.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
